Initiative: Why Italy is the Perfect Platform for Aerospace
Martino Castellani - Official,
Antonella Keller - Foreign Direct Investment Programme – Aerospace Specialist, Invitalia
InvestinItaly, an initiative based on a cooperation between
the public Italian agencies: Italian Trade Agency and Invitalia, promotes
business opportunities in Italy and helps foreign investors, through a
portfolio of services, to establish or expand their business in the
country.
The Italian aerospace and defence &
security industry ranks 7th in the world and 4th in Europe
and represents the largest manufacturing sector in Italy in the field of
high-tech integrated systems. Thanks to the quality of R&D and human
resources, the large availability of suppliers, the presence of aerospace
technological district and clusters, Italy represents the perfect location for
aerospace companies. Moreover, incentives are provided by national and regional
policies to support investments.

Lucie Meznikova - Private Sector Specialist, Brno City Municipality
Brno is the metropolis of the South Moravian Region. This
young and dynamic city located near three capitals – Prague, Vienna and
Bratislava - is one of the most progressive innovation centres in Central
Europe. Brno has a strong tradition in mechanical and electrical
engineering. In the field of electron microscopy it is among the best in the
world. The aerospace industry is also increasingly important for the region.
Even if there are only a few companies in #brnoregion dealing in the aircraft
industry and astronautics, the potential for growth is clear. Brno universities
and science and research centres are also intensively involved in this sector
and are able to establish cooperation with companies. The importance of
popularization in this field is fully recognized in #brnoregion. There are
regularly held events such as Brno Space Days, hackathons for secondary school
students etc.

Agility: value creation, committed teams, involved customers, proven results! Even for a hardware product?
Patrick Vergnot - Agile Product Owner, Latécoère
Three years ago, Latécoère began the development of a new concept of aircraft door in order to equip future programs. The ASGARD research project was born and set itself ambitious objectives: time to market, maximized value addition and cost reduction. All of this driven by one question in mind: how to innovate on an already mature aerostructure?
Latécoère has lead this project from two sides: first of all, we approached the topic with a functional approach of the “Access to the Aircraft Cabin” system, making it possible to grasp issues with maximum creativity, and not through a product approach which could have led to doing “as before”. Then we implemented a new framework, commonly known as "agile methods" and so far applied more commonly to IT projects.
Convinced by its strengths and having made their R&T team adhere to this new mode of operation - in self-management and without formal hierarchy -, Marie Heurtel and Patrick Vergnot will share with you their experience on the application of agile methods on industrial product innovation.
Malaysia Aerospace Market Overview
Pravinganesha Rajoo - Director, MIDA Paris (Malaysian Investment Development Authority)
The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has impacted almost every industry in the world and the aerospace industry is considered to be in the eye of the storm. Malaysia being second-largest aerospace market in Southeast Asia, strategically located in the heart of ASEAN, with its well-developed infrastructure, stable economy and sound policies is weathering the storm ably. It is anticipated that recovery post Covid-19 will be swift and Malaysia would be able to reposition itself to be more competitive as it has all the necessary ingredients to be an important player in the international market, and become the leading aerospace nation in the region. In this regard, the presentation would be updating the audience on the current aerospace ecosystem in Malaysia and how Malaysia fits into the global supply chain; the opportunities that are present for French businesses, varies facilitation's offered by MIDA, updates on government policies and many other details to showcase why Malaysia is the ideal location to position the next Aerospace project.
